Ideal for reluctant readers, this beautiful story tells of the power of unity, even in the animal world. Through the descriptive narrative, a view of the forest and the trees, and the way animals support and look out for each other, is made visible.

It also awakens awareness, and the motivation and interest in children to protect our wildlife, their surroundings and the beauty of the natural world.

REVIEW: Robert Favretto, author.

Ouston’s first book in the Fearless Friends series, Graffiti Fighters, makes an exciting read for those who enjoy a junior action-packed mystery.

Magic, ghosts, and witchcraft are all rolled into the mix of this story, underlining the theme: ''Do unto others as you would like them to do to you".
Evie is shocked when she discovers a graffiti vandal has targeted her neighbor’s fence – and she’s determined to track down the person responsible. But her shock escalates to anger when the vandal makes it personal. With the support of her cousin, Willem, and a neighbor’s special pen, she sets out on a dangerous mission to catch the culprit.

I found Fearless Friends – Graffiti Hunters a gripping and enjoyable read. Ouston weaves a suspenseful tale of drama and excitement. I particularly like the way the characters shine through with their courage and spirit. The story is fast-paced, with an intriguing plot that leaves you wanting more.

Middle primary readers will love this book and the installments to follow.

Australian history, adventure and bush rangers all rolled into one exciting story

Today is the official launch of Clancy Tucker's new book Irish Gold:  another riveting read from Clancy.

Here is what Clancy had to say about it.

'This is like all of my books; different to the last one. This is historical fiction about the goldfields in Australia in the 1850's. It's about the involvement of the Irish, and others, who played a major part on the goldfields.

ORIGINS OF THIS BOOK:
The gold rush has always been my favourite period in Australian history. So, why not write about it? The story is centred on the Irish, who played a major role on the goldfields. But, I've thrown a few bushrangers in as well to spice it up a bit. Bushrangers have also played a great part in our history, and I guess you have all heard of one infamous guy named Ned Kelly. However, not all of them were crooks and bad men, as this book will highlight.

HERE IS THE BLURB:
Pat Toomey’s violent father dies, leaving Pat, his mother and four sisters in the Port Phillip District of Australia during the 1850’s gold rush. Pat and best friend, Seamus, are offered a job by Irishman, Michael Macevoy; to transport supplies to miners in Ballarat. They take the job, and Macevoy becomes a regular caller at the Toomey’s home. The boys meet many people who know their boss, and it intrigues them. They also save a Chinese family from a dangerous bushranger, Jack Lawrie, and meet another wanted bushranger, Martin Riley –  Michael Macevoy’s best mate.

Jack Lawrie escapes and seeks revenge, surprising the boys one evening, but Martin Riley appears from the dark and seriously maims Lawrie. Whilst transporting Lawrie to Castlemaine, troopers appear, notice Riley, and a chase ensues. Shots are fired and Riley is injured, but Seamus mounts Riley’s horse and rides away. Lawrie and Pat are in custody, a trooper has been shot, and Riley is still free, but Michael Macevoy arrives and Pat is released. That night, Martin Riley dies.

The boys deliver a shattered Macevoy to Pat’s mother’s home, and they step up to run Macevoy’s Transport when Michael enters a period of deep depression. The boys work hard, employ staff, and expand the business to the Bendigo goldfields. Will Michael Macevoy overcome his depression? Why does Michael know so many people?

ISSUES INCLUDED IN THIS BOOK:
Irish, bushrangers, crime, goldfields, troopers, law and order, life on the goldfields, women during the gold rush, sly-grog shops, Ballarat, Bendigo, Port Phillip District, loyalty, friendships, mateship, Chinese influence,  police ... And also a touch of romance throughout the book.

NOT ONE BUT TWO GREAT REVIEWS

Award winning author Clancy Tucker collects great reviews like other authors collect rejection slips. He must be doing something right!! Check out these two great reviews for his latest book, Bold Journey, they will tell you all.

Bold Journey

Reviewed by Anastasia Gonis

The story begins in 1954, when the Agnelli family set out for Australia on an Assisted Migrant Scheme. The positives and negatives of their decision are cleverly woven into a delicate and moving story of migration, with themes of friendship, family, bullying, and the huge impact the kindness and generosity of strangers can have on people’s lives.

Cat Ginelli and ‘Fozzie’ Agnelli have been friends since childhood after meeting on the ship. Their years of friendship, togetherness, learning, discovery, and shared grief, is slowly transformed into something powerful, but unspoken. While life leads them along different and distant paths as they grow, the emotional ties between them remain unbroken.

Will they finally come together at the official function put on by Amnesty International, or will the story of their life together end due to those words unspoken?

The struggles and challenges the Agnelli family face are the struggles of every migrant family of the post-war years. The courage and determination of they have to adapt and succeed reflect the characteristics of migrants of that era, and many of those of today.

Through his work, Clancy again seizes the opportunity to bring into focus, issues that he is passionate about. He addresses the humanitarian need of countries ravaged by war and poverty, with the intention that it will ‘stir the conscience’ of his readers, and the world in general. He makes reference to the Vietnam and Korean wars and their futility in a significant way.

This is an interesting and well-constructed novel which is historically valuable, in that it reflects on the how and why, Europeans left their homelands for a better life, what they found, and what they did with what they had.

Clancy Tucker has created lovable characters and moving scenes. He has presented a wide view of migrant life. All this is folded into a story of love, hope and sacrifice. Suited for ages 8-80, it also shows the multi-faceted lives of post-war Australians through dialogue, varying voices and points of view.

 I LOVED IT! 5 May 2017
By Vicki CASE – Published on Amazon.com

When you pick up a Clancy Tucker book you can be rest assured you will not be disappointed. Bold Journey is no exception – yet another Clancy heart string tugger for sure.

Bold Journey is a story of two Italian families who individually make a decision to migrate to a foreign land (Australia) so their children can have a better life. In doing so, the AGNELLI & GINELLI families have to leave their family & friends behind & sail to the unknown. Despite the distance however, they never forget or lose contact with their families, their heritage or their culture.

En route to Australia, aboard the Achille Lauro, children; Fausto AGNELLI forges a life-long friendship with Caterina GINELLI. The two share so many great times & adventures together until one day their lives have to take an individual road, a road to their chosen careers. Fausto wants to be a journalist, whilst Caterina wants to pursue nursing. Little did they realise, that their careers would bring them together again & again, however not in the circumstances they would prefer.

Years later, they are both nominated for individual international awards for their respective work. Will they again be united, or not?

Bold Journey is another brilliant literary work by Australia’s multi award-winning author – Clancy Tucker. Each of his books are different; yet each contains an ethical moral that will bring you to tears.

I loved this book from beginning to end & I know you will too. I highly recommend Bold Journey, regardless of your age. It’s a beautiful journey that will leave you wanting more – Cat & Fozzie’s journey. I pray there is a sequel.

Today, Dr Judith O'Malley-Ford, author of The Secret Stalker of the Prostate, has a very informative article on the subject of prostate cancer on findatopdoc.com the link is below, but here is the start of the article.

New Technology for Men's Health.

The 21st century is well upon us, and the scientific and health landscape is rapidly changing, yet there are still new horizons to conquer. The final frontier does not lie in a distant galaxy. It is much closer to home. Look no further than the place where men fear to tread: Men’s Health.

The prostate gland, which rarely sees the light of day, is suddenly in the spotlight and cancer is the focus. Prostate cancer is not just a disease of men, but a disease of couples, especially when issues of manhood and masculinity are at stake. Surgery for prostate cancer may result in erectile problems and urinary incontinence. These make up the very fabric that constitutes masculinity, wherein lies the reluctance to contemplate prostate screening.
Can men learn to address this difficult topic, or are they too often reluctant to discuss it until it is too late?

Judith O'Malley-Ford
Judith is a full-time GP, award-winning author, and recently published author of book on prostate cancer entitled "The Secret Stalker of the Prostate". She is a former editor of the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia monthly magazine, and a committee member of the Asthma Foundation. She has a Master of Public Health and is a fellow and examiner of the RACGP.

Wow! A review by Film Director John Campbell!!

Well done Clancy Tucker!

Review by John Campbell - Film Director - Feb 2017. The book, 'Bold Journey' - by Clancy Tucker -

I have read all of Clancy's books to date, and enjoyed every one of them. This, his latest publication, 'Bold Journey', is no exception. As an evening reader, I do lose far too much sleep reading his books. I always find myself wanting to read just one more chapter. Fatal; five chapters later, out come the matchsticks to 'prop up the eyelids'.

Truly an author who keeps you on the edge of your seat. You never know what shock he has in store for you on the very next page. So it was with 'Bold Journey'. Having read the back cover, I couldn't wait to get a copy myself, and find out more. I was not disappointed.

Clancy is a skilled artist with words, and he taught me the technique of writing brief and to the point sentences in my film scripts. His descriptive narrative immediately draws you deep into the story from the very first paragraph.

It was at dinner one evening, in their little Italian Village of Santorini, that Severino Angelli proposes to his family that they pack up and emigrate. "Where", gasped his startled wife, Anna Maria;  "Australia!". Soon the Angelli family find themselves aboard the 'Achille Lauro' destined for a brand new life on the other side of the world. Waving goodbye to their relatives and friends, and severing his fond attachment with each of his brothers, Severino suddenly realizes the impact of his decision.

Life aboard ship soon dispels the initial shock, as the Angellis befriend the Ginellis, another migrating family, with whom they are to forge a close friendship for many years. Severino's son, "Fozzie" and 'Cat' Ginelli instantly become inseparable friends aboard ship.

Later, Cat and Fozzie go their separate ways, embracing very different careers in their new country, but each possessing a compassionate feeling for others. Much later, they do meet again, but under the most unexpected circumstances.
Cat is a nurse, working with the starving and dying masses in Ethiopia, caught in an impossible quest; Fozzie, a successful journalist, feels drawn to investigate their plight. Back in London, a severe, life threatening illness, brings Cat to the bedside of an unconscious Fozzie.  Do they ever come together again?

I love the way Clancy weaves into his stories, the most complex and unexpected outcomes. All the usual joys and tragedies in life, beset his characters, but I recall in each of his works, he builds a passionate and lovable nature into many of his youngsters.

Some friends tell me that they feel Clancy writes his stories for young readers.  Whilst heroically featuring the outstanding lives of some of the children and young teenagers in his scripts, he enthralls adults of all ages, and keeps everyone poised right to the very end.

So, 'Bold Journey'. A slow, but probably necessary beginning, steeped in the historical detail of a city I know well. I loved it and give it an A1. rating, Clancy. As you say, it would make a great movie. I agree!

John Campbell. Film Director, Victoria, Australia.

A BOOK SIGNING WITH A DIFFERENCE

Judith O'Malley-Ford will be accompanied by Federal member for Lilly, Wayne Swan at her signing for her new book, The Secret Stalker of the Prostate at Dymocks Books at Chermside on February 11th, from 11.30 to 1pm.

Wayne feels so strongly about the importance of this book that he has agreed to attend the signing to help promote the book.

Drop in to meet the author and buy an signed copy. It might save your life or that of someone close to you. And have a chat with your Federal Member for Lilly.

This book is supported by many other public figures, including Major General John Hemsley Pearn AO RFD, Philip Adams, Peter Dornan, founder and convenor of the Prostate Cancer Support Group and Ian Smith, Queensland PCFA Board Member.

Author of the book,
The Secret Stalker of the Prostrate, Dr Judith O'Malley-Ford said, 'To put prostate cancer in context, we can compare its incidence with that of other commonly occurring cancers.

'Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men. It is more common than lung cancer, colon cancer or breast cancer in women. Research shows that the incidence of prostate cancer is far greater than breast cancer but the funding put into its early detection is far less. This needs to be addressed.'

The book was launched by Major General John Hemsley Pearn AO RFD at the Grange Bowls Club on Wednesday 2nd of November.

When asked to read and evaluate the book, Peter Dornan, founder and convener of the Prostate Cancer Support Group wrote, 'When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 1996, at the age of 52, as a health professional, a Physiotherapist, I was embarrassed and angry that I did not know what my prostate was, where it was and what it did. This is the book I would have loved to have at the time. Every question regarding anatomy, disease processes, decision making procedures for the treatment and considerations of the side effects, psycho-social effects and the impact on relationships, are concisely covered – all in layman terms. The most important section, dealing with the modern research of parametric MRI during diagnosis, is particularly useful.'

The book contains very detailed information on the common symptoms of not only prostate cancer but other less critical diseases of the uro-genital system. A comprehensive questionnaire will help men or their wives or partners pick up any changes that could be early warning signs. It goes on to explain in great detail, the steps that should be taken if a problem is suspected and the steps the medical professional will take to determine and treat the cause.

Dr O'Malley-Ford told me that, until recently, it was a relatively rare event for a man to bring a problem with the functioning of his uro-genital system to medical attention without prompting by a significant other. For those men who are in the process of taking that difficult step of presenting prostate problems to their doctors, including those unfortunate enough to be facing investigation for prostate cancer, this book is for them.

'I have a personal interest in the quest to improve men’s health. My father had prostate cancer. The bigger picture relating to prostate cancer also includes the associated risk of breast cancer for women in a family where the men are diagnosed with prostate cancer. There is scientific evidence that shows that the same inherited genetic risk factor applies to breast cancer as applies to prostate,' Dr O'Malley-Ford said.

In the foreword for the book, Philip Adams says, 'Australia needs a definitive work on the topic, one that gives prominence to the prostate, and sets out to answer those questions that men just don’t want to ask – a book written with intelligence, kindness, and humour. The topic has found its author in Dr. Judith O’Malley Ford. Her knowledge on the subject is profound, her writing lucid and humane. In this book, she comprehensively and compassionately addresses a major health issue for men – if not THE major health issue affecting men today.'

The book is available on line at www.morrispublishingaustralia.com as an eBook or paperback, and from bookshops and online book sellers.
