As well as the usual number of traditionally published books produced every year, Morris Publishing Australia now offers Assisted Independent Book Publishing:
Watching the struggle of many authors to find a traditional publisher or to self-publish their books for a reasonable price and with the best outcome, we have decided to offer a publishing option for them.
Our option allows them to be published by Morris Publishing Australia, an established traditional publishing house, which will take away the stigma of being self-published and give them more chance of selling their book.
Having said that, Morris Publishing Australia will still be choosing books that they believe are ready to publish and have a good chance of success.

Many years ago, the only option for authors to publish was to pitch to a traditional publisher or spend huge amounts of money with vanity publishers for not much gain.
Many authors have fallen victim to companies who take advantage of vulnerable creatives looking to share their story by not making sure the book was ready for sale and offering no help with marketing. And they charged huge amounts that the author could never recoup. While traditional publishing is every author’s dream, the market is swamped with submissions. Morris Publishing Australia, like all publishers, have a limited number of books that they publish every year and have to choose what they believe will best sell. As we know, many publishers have been wrong and turned down books that have become best sellers and made a fortune for the publisher that was wise enough to take them, and for the authors, like Harry Potter and many others. What is Assisted Independent Publishing? To give authors the option of becoming a published author, MPA will charge a reasonable fee to prepare their books for sale. Marketing will be included in the cost. This allows us to take many more books and gives more authors a chance to get their books out to the public. |
As with traditional publishing, every book submitted will be evaluated by our editorial staff.
If we think it has potential, we will email you and set up a time for a meeting in person or online. We will talk through your options and if we come to an agreement, we will send you a publishing contract. If a meeting is not possible, we will email you your options. If we believe it is ready to be published and has a good chance of success, we will give a quote for a proofread, set-up for printing and an eBook, and printing. If it needs polishing to make it ready, we will quote for the editing time. Unlike other firms we have no set price for publishing your book. The cost is based on the work needed to bring it to a publishing standard. If we believe it is not ready for publishing but has potential, we will offer a mentorship to the author to help them get it to the final stage. We have a dedicated team of editors, designers and marketing people who are professionally trained and qualified. All authors maintain 100% rights of the book. Our contract is for the rights to sell the book for a set period. Authors have input into the editing and design but because of their experience and knowledge of the industry the final creative design is decided by our editors and artists. |
PERSONALISED MARKETING SUPPORT
Having analysed not only the book’s unique qualities but also the features it shares with works in similar genres, we will identify the sales techniques most likely to prove effective and from this create a comprehensive but flexible marketing plan tailor-made for this title at no extra charge.
The success of your book is as important to us as it is to you.
Some of these strategies are detailed in the Book Marketing Plan below.

* We will set up a blog tour of at least 6 sites if possible, choosing book review blogs that are appropriate for the book. * Help organise signings, launches, library talks, and school visits if appropriate. |
* Send new release sheet to all bookshops, libraries and library suppliers, and schools if appropriate.
* Put the book in the monthly MPA catalogue that goes out to bookshops, libraries and library suppliers, and schools if appropriate. * Put it on the MPA website for wholesale and retail sale and on Australian Book Distributors for wholesale and retail sale. |
