A different approach to weight loss and maintenance

Picture
This is not a recipe book or a diet plan book. It is not a book about using a difficult and strict diet and exercise to lose weight and keep it off.

This book will give you a much easier way of doing both.

It will show you how to stop your cravings for unhealthy foods and make sure you eat the most nutritious foods in the correct amount to help you lose weight and improve your health.

Elaine says, “I realised in my twenties that the most sensible thing to do was not to put it on in the first place.

Many think this is not possible, but I have maintained my weight for all of my adult life, so I can testify that it is possible. And you can use the same method I used, to maintain your weight or lose the extra weight you gained and to keep it off. Let me show you how.”

You can learn more on the book's page, Slim and Healthy the Easy Way.

GREAT REVIEW FOR OUR NEW CHILDREN'S CRIME MYSTERY

Book Review: The Case of the Missing Moggies.

Author: Debra Clewer

Illustrations: Kym Langfield

Genre: Short Chapter Book

Publisher: Morris Publishing Australia

Reviewer: Elizabeth Klein

"It’s a good thing I’m such a James Bond fan because The Case of the Missing Moggies sure has the Bond feel about it with its list of weasel villains and cat heroes, but a children’s version.

It has all the spy gadgets and the fancy car that gets the hero Ah-Fur and his cousin Show-Fur out of dangers and back again to their fancy hotel with bowls of fresh cold milk to enjoy. This story has all the fun and adventure a young reader could hope for.

Author, Debra Clewer, ties all the plot skeins together like a masterful sleuth herself. She has created a superb tale of cat-napping with her hero searching for clues, discarding red herrings to discover the truth behind the wicked weasels’ plans to rid the world of cats. I could almost hear the iconic Bond music in the background…

This book definitely has a cat lover’s flavour in mind and is an enjoyable read if you like unravelling crimes. Children aged 7 and over who love stories about cats and mysteries will certainly enjoy this offering. And perhaps, as with the Bond tales, there might be more crime adventures in the future. One can only hope.

BOOK INFORMATION:

Informative reading for anyone interested in learning more about our amazing continent, this would also be an ideal guide for overseas tourists, grey nomads, and anyone else travelling our amazing country. The places listed are not in the usual travel brochures and are not to be missed.

SYNOPSIS: Wild Extremes is here to uncover Australia's geographical records: like where is the longest beach, the deepest lakes, the oldest rocks and the hottest springs. This isn't a book of endless records but rather tells the backstory to Australia's geographic records. It explores the controversies around records and looks at how plants and animals have adapted to places of extreme.

This is a unique story of the continent and islands of Australia. It scrutinises this nation through the lens of its geographic records. It explores Australia's deserts, beaches, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, aquifers and lakes. But have you also wondered about Australian glaciers, or volcanoes? Where are the largest and oldest meteorite craters? What were the largest earthquakes? Where are the largest waves and why are marine megafauna attracted to submarine canyons that incise Australia's continental shelf?

These questions and more are answered when we examine Australia's Wild Extremes.

The author, Sally de Gruchy and illustrator, Kat Buchanan, of this enchanting and valuable children's book had fun recently signing books at Glee Books in Sydney.

The store gave them a great and well-deserved review. If you live in Sydney, pop in for a signed copy.

Review Glee Books Sydney:

'Gentle but excited cuddles for these gorgeous sisters who dropped in to sign copies of their wonderful picture book, A Rabbit’s Tale.

This is a really lovely tale of Ralfie, who, feeling overwhelmed by everything decides to run away. On his journey, he meets a cast of very helpful characters who show him 3 mini mindfulness techniques to calm his nerves, harness awareness and choose empowering thoughts.

It is an adventurous story full of practical tools to help remind kids (and adults) how to be more present and how to approach those nasty, negative thoughts… but not in a cheesy, preachy way (kids are your toughest audience and run a mile if they know they are being taught a lesson)

Sally de Gruchy has a background in psychology and primary teaching, is a mum to 2 kids and is passionate about sharing her skills to empower kids to look after their minds. Her sister Kat Buchanan, who did the gorgeous illustrations is also an architect and designer who is inspired by the natural world.

We found this book really helpful in reinforcing some simple strategies to deal with the anxiety and panic that has crept into our household over the last couple of years.

Thanks Sally, Kat (and Ralfie) for reminding us to breathe, focus our minds and sing!

Signed copies of A Rabbit’s Tale available in store.'

NEW PUBLISHING OPPORTUNITY FOR AUTHORS

5/19/2022

Morris Publishing Australia now offers Assisted Independent Book Publishing:

Watching the struggle of many authors to find a traditional publisher or to self-publish their books for a reasonable price and with the best outcome, we have decided to offer a publishing option for them. Our option allows them to be published by Morris Publishing Australia, an established traditional publishing house, which will take away the stigma of being self-published and give them more chance of selling their book. Having said that, Morris Publishing Australia will still be choosing books that they believe are ready to publish and have a good chance of success.

Many years ago, the only option for authors to publish was to pitch to a traditional publisher or spend huge amounts of money to pay vanity publishers for not much gain. Many authors have fallen victim to companies who take advantage of vulnerable creatives looking to share their story by not making sure the book was ready for sale and offering no help with marketing. And they charged huge amounts that the author could never recoup.

While traditional publishing is every author’s dream, the market is swamped with submissions. The publishers have a limited number of books that they publish every year and have to choose what they believe will sell. As we know, many have been wrong and turned down books that have become best sellers and made a fortune for the publisher that was wise enough to take them, and for the authors.

What is assisted Independent Publishing? Follow this link to the submissions page to find out.

After the demise of Dennis Jones Distributors, we have been trying for a couple of years to find a distributor we wanted to work with. Now we have!

They are a new company but not new to the industry. I love their enthusiasm to push Australian books and Australian small publishers.

ONE FOR THE SCIENCE FICTION LOVERS!
Can a human mind exist in a cybernetic brain in an animal body, stuck in an endless cycle of life, death, and reincarnation without losing their humanity and their minds?

Review: 'The emotional struggle of the carnivorous animals as they fight human morals and emotions that interfere with the need to kill for food is handled well.

As if that isn't enough, they have to fight to save their species and themselves from a madman out to torture and kill them.

Although it contains violence that may offend some, the story is gripping and you won't be able to put this down once you start.'

YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!

From the incredible mind and imagination of emerging author, Matthew Anderson, this book is full of emotion and excitement. The plot is fast moving and engaging.

It explores the question, 'Can a human mind exist in a cybernetic brain in an animal body, stuck in an endless cycle of life, death, and reincarnation without losing their humanity and their minds?'

The setting:
The earth is dead. Mars is now a livable planet. Science has created animals with the consciousness from dead humans to inhabit the new world. The carnivorous animals struggle to survive as their human morals and emotions interfere with the need to kill for food.

This is a place without law and order, where it is kill or be killed. There is no supervision and no rules, except those made by others also let loose into this anarchic wilderness.

Prepare to travel to a place that should not exist. Where science has played God and created a new world. Thanks to technology, every animal has a human conscience.

Some herbivores have formed a Kingdom and an army to destroy all carnivores.

But a devious beast has taken over the Kingdom. He doesn't discriminate on who he tortures and kills; even preying on his own workers. The fight to survive is long and hard.

Newly released to the planet, Ryan, a puma, finds it difficult to adjust to his need to kill for food. Follow his journey as he fights to overcome his former morals and  helps the other animals fight the Kingdom Army.

... for Elaine Ouston's new book Restoring Destiny.

Award winning author, Aleesah Darlison says: 'Impeccable from the first page, Restoring Destiny is a deftly written high fantasy adventure novel.

The characters are strong, fierce, and relatable and the story is packed with action and surprises.

Get set for a remarkable ride!'

Aleesah Darlison, award-winning author.

And author, Gayle Torrens
says:

'I recently got a copy of this book for my grandson, but I made the mistake of reading the first chapter to see if I thought he’d like it. That was it. The book never left my hands until I finished it.

This is a great fantasy story; well-written and saturated with enough excitement to keep the reader enthralled throughout.

The characters are beautifully developed, and I was drawn to them immediately. The male character, Rais is brave, selfless, and ingenious and will appeal to the young male readers and his sister Kanda is loyal, feisty, and indomitable and I’m sure young female readers will quickly bond with her.

The plot is exciting and unpredictable and there are just enough teasers offered throughout the novel to keep the reader turning pages.

A great YA novel that would make a welcome Christmas present for any young bookworm.
