OUR FIRST BORN:

What an exciting week we have had at Morris Publishing. Our first eBook is published and the story is so good it gives me goosebumps. It is a wonderful coming of age story for boys. It is set in the Australian bush and parallels the lives of two boys – one a present day lad of 14, and the other, his great-great-grandfather at the same age. The story is based on a manuscript left to the present day lad that tells the story of his great-great-grandfather’s heroic journey to save the family’s cattle property during the 1910 drought. It is cleverly written and is a heart warming and enjoyable read that will appeal to more than the young adult audience it is targeting. I loved editing and formatting it. I laughed and cried; and for hours, I was totally lost in the bush setting and the lives of the two main protagonists. It was 'Highly Commended’ in the FAW Jim Hamilton Award - 2007 National Literary Awards, and has been favourably acclaimed by many notable people.

It will be available at many eBook stores in the next couple of weeks but it is NOW available from our BOOK STORE as an eBook in all formats, and as a Paperback. Pop over to The Gunnedah Hero’s page and read the first chapter, I’m sure you will love it.

The competition entries are still flowing in and I am delighted with the quality. It just confirms my belief that there is much more talent out there than the ones who are lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time to be picked up by a large publisher. I don’t think we will be able to stop at the few we said we would publish. I won’t be able to resist publishing more. Keep the entries for the contest and eBooks coming.
